A comfortable entrance.

Spaciousness and comfort characterise travel in ComfortClass 500 - from the very first moment you enter the coach. The kneeling function lowers the level of the standing coach to increase ease of entry. The wide steps and the elegant handrail also make boarding a pleasure.

A rear door or a middle door.

By selecting the position of the rear door, you can customise your coach to your specific requirements. Therefore, the middle door is the right choice if you want to carry as many passengers as possible with a reasonable amount of luggage. If maximum luggage compartment capacity and an attractive integrated seat layout are in the foreground for you, the optional rear door is the right one for you.

In order to achieve a more uniform temperature distribution in heating and air conditioning, our engineers have created two separate control zones for the front and rear. So that all passengers, regardless of their seating position, can enjoy excellent climate comfort.

Ergonomically conceived instrumentation.

Using the keys on the advanced multifunction steering wheel allows you to operate displays and radio settings, cruise control and assistance systems, as well as accept phone calls. The Coach Multimedia System (CMS), with its large colour display and coach-specific navigation system, is harmoniously integrated to the overall appearance of the cockpit.

Service sets.

The service sets in the ComfortClass 500 stand out with a main light with two different levels of brightness. Two standard LED reading lights spread a pleasant warm-white light. As an option, we can equip the service sets with a stop request trigger or call to a hostess. You can have the service sets positioned either seat-based or staggered and independent of seat position (option).

An electronic vehicle key.

The electronic vehicle key for ignition and central locking is available as an option with an integrated remote control. This not only increases the locking comfort, but also safety. Thanks to its electronic drive authorisation system, the new key generation also features enhanced anti-theft protection.

Connectivity and on-board entertainment.

With the optional Coach MediaRouter, passengers can access the Internet via Wi-Fi or retrieve media content on their mobile devices. The optional DVB-T2 tuner transmits TV programmes to the passenger monitors, or plays movies and music via the USB interface.

Barrier-free equipment.

For long-haul applications, we will be happy to equip your TopClass S 431 DT for handicapped access as per ECE R 107 - on request. Using the extra-wide rear entry (115 cm) and the wheelchair ramp, passengers with reduced mobility can comfortably enter the coach.

An exemplary safety standard.

When it comes to safety, the ComfortClass has an impressive overall concept with an ideal combination of active and passive systems. Many relevant safety features which will be required in the future are already available today. Drivers and passengers therefore have the best possible protection.

Emergency Brake Assist ABA 4.*

The standard Active Brake Assist 4 (ABA 4) alerts the driver if the specified distance to a vehicle ahead or to a stationary obstacle is dangerously undershot and an accident is unavoidable with unchanged driving style. Additionally, ABA 4 recognises pedestrians moving along the side to the front of the vehicle. If the driver does not react to the system’s warning, it automatically triggers full braking.

High structural rigidity.

With their high structural rigidity as per ECE-R 66.02, the ComfortClass HD models are ideally prepared to meet current requirements. This is ensured by, for instance, the circumferential strength-optimised ring frames and the use of high-strength steels.

LED technology: seeing and being seen much better.

The long-life LED headlights (option), with precisely defined and bright light beams, improve safety. The light colour corresponds to daylight, minimising driver eye strain.

State-of-the-art engines from Mercedes-Benz.

The current generation of BlueEfficiency Power engines with BlueTec 6 exhaust aftertreatment not only combines low fuel consumption with low emissions. They are also very impressive thanks to newly developed advanced technology with outstanding power and high torque that kicks in at a markedly enhanced level - throughout the entire driving range.

PPC (Predictive Powertrain Control).

The PPC (option) is a GPS cruise control, which also engages in the automatic control of the PowerShift 3 transmission.* Because the system knows the topography ahead, it enables the automatic gear switching before declines, on mountainous terrain, before hilltops and in valleys - for a predictive selection of gear and speed. The PPC therefore contributes to the optimisation of fuel consumption and makes the TopClass even more cost-effective.
